WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ’S

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE ?

We  shoot the wedding to tell the story of your wedding, using photojournalistic, editorial, and traditional  styles. We observe and record the wonderful events and details of the day, but  occasionally make suggestions to create beautiful and memorable images.

We shoot using state-of-the-art digital equipment, so many pictures are taken. Pictures can be converted to black and white or sepia.

HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS SHOOT THE WEDDING?

THE TIME engages both Frank and Sarah to shoot the wedding, sometimes with an additional assistant .

HOW MUCH OF THE WEDDING DAY DO YOU SHOOT?

We prefer to shoot the entire wedding day, starting with the arrival of the Bride for preparation, and ending with the leaving from the reception. An indoor ceremony is shot typically from one location, with available light (no flash). We will not intrude on the ceremony.

One of the most important parts of the day that should be photographed is the Bride’s and Bridesmaids’ preparation in the dressing room. Plenty of time should be allowed for this, because it is a very special moment in the Bride’s life, and should not be rushed. If possible, the Groom’s preparation will also be shot.

DO YOU SHOOT FORMAL PICTURES?

Certainly, if requested. And we try to work quickly while making high-quality formal pictures. But we urge you to keep the number of formal shots to a minimum. First, they take up valuable time before the ceremony where the bridal party can be getting ready at a more leisurely pace and have this special time visiting with their closest friends and family members. Of course, it also takes up time the wedding party has at the reception, and keeps the guests waiting longer.

Often the photographer is asked by other relatives and friends of the Bride and Groom to shoot certain individual, groups or combinations during the formal pictures. These pictures take valuable time away from the Bride, Groom and other guests. Therefore, during the formal shooting, we defer to you, the Bride and Groom, on these requests. Again, this is for your benefit.

CAN GUESTS TAKE PICTURES?

Many photographers prohibit other photography except at the reception. This helps those photographers sell pictures. We do not care about that, so guest shutterbugs are welcome – with a couple of limitations. First, during the formal  photographs, the photographer will ask the other guests to refrain from taking pictures until he has completed photographing the particular group. The reason for that is that when five cameras are pointed at a group, the subjects will be looking in five different directions!

Photography during the ceremony is a particularly troublesome issue. We  try to be as unobtrusive as possible, by using available light (no flash), for example. But well-meaning guests often take pictures during the ceremony. This often interferes with the solemnity of the ceremony, especially when they use flash, and compromises our efforts to remain discreet. These guests often hang out in the isle or stand up to take these pictures, which can interfere with our pictures of the ceremony. You may want to place in the program a request such as follows: “Guests are requested to refrain from photography during the ceremony.”

WHAT DO THE BRIDE AND GROOM GET AFTER THE WEDDING (ASIDE FROM EACH OTHER)?

A few days after the ceremony, you will get a CD of the pictures taken at the wedding. These will be raw images – many will need improved (exposure and color correction, cropping), which can be done by us or by the client if the client desires. We can print images, create a DVD slide show, and help make an album for the client, all at reasonable cost consistent with the budget of the client. But the client has complete flexibility because we give rights to the client to use and reproduce the images! We  never insists that only THE TIME can print or reproduce the images!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

We charge for the Photographer's time, with you as the client getting rights to the images.  For the rates, see SERVICES. We can print pictures and create a wedding album after the ceremony,  working with your budget. But you are not obligated to have us do this.

ANY PACKAGES?

No, because our method of pricing gives not only good value, but complete flexibility to the client.
